Classic Wood Designs

When it comes to timeless, you just can’t beat the look and longevity of real hardwood kitchen cabinets. Aside from dated appliances and black counter tops, this 1989 kitchen in the photo on the right only needed an upgrade to a more beautiful granite and new appliances and now you’d think it was built yesterday. In one day this hardwood kitchen went from looking 30 years old to looking the part in 2022 with tan colored granite to match the travertine floors and new Kitchen-Aid appliances, new drawer and door pulls and soft touch hinges and drawer slides. $6,000 worth of upgrades instead of the $25,000 you could spend on those cabinets today.

Lets face it, the United States is blessed with some of the most beautiful hardwoods perfect for cabinetry on earth. From the rich dark browns of black walnut to the smooth creamy colors of maple and birch and the wonderful mahogany color of cherry. There is a wood color choice for everyone.

One thing we do not like to do with our hardwood cabinets is apply a color stain to the wood. Stains are designed to make a lesser quality wood look like something it isn’t. They can hide the natural beauty of the wood. If you want brown cabinets, go with a brown wood, if you want that rich mahogany color go with premium Western Pennsylvania cherry. If you want more of a creamy blond color then white birch or maple is a good choice.

Our wood cabinets are finished with a coat of a highly refined furniture oil to bring out the color and then sprayed with a water clear Sherwin Williams conversion varnish that will last for decades.

Why choose natural wood kitchen cabinets?

  • Natural wood cabinets really are the focal point of any home and are a key component in the value of your property.
  • Natural wood is warm and elegant and makes a kitchen feel like home.
  • There just isn’t any better quality than finely crafted wood cabinets. They last forever.
  • Wood cabinets are timeless! Currently white and grey painted cabinets have been all the rage for the last 7-8 years and just like mustard yellow and avocado green appliances were all the rage in the 1970’s, when tastes start to turn, they turn fast. We are already seeing a return to color from the sterile monochromatic white and grey homes that have been very popular but that popularity is starting to wane.
